Classic Country’s Patsy Cline and Friends

Fans of country legend Patsy Cline won’t want to miss Classic Country’s Patsy Cline and Friends showing now at Branson’s Americana Theater! This nostalgic show is sure to take you on a walk down memory lane with its traditional country tunes, first-rate musicianship, and hilarious comedy.

Country music icon Patsy Cline spent her childhood in sleepy Winchester, Virginia, where she was introduced to music as a young girl. Patsy dropped out of school to support her family as a teenager, working days at a local diner. She began performing on a local radio show in 1947. She began her recording career in the mid 1950’s and went on to record such recognizable hits as “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Crazy,” “She’s Got You,” and many more. She is considered to be a trailblazer for women in the country music industry and was at the height of her popularity until her tragic death in 1963.

Paying tribute to Patsy Cline’s incredible life and career is Branson’s own CJ Newsom, whose robust country voice is the perfect instrument with which to bring Patsy’s music to life. CJ’s love of music also started young, and she began singing at the tender age of 3. The Newsom family spent much of CJ’s childhood travelling across the United States, and it wasn’t long before CJ was finding opportunities to sing at music competitions and fairs. She was also a regular performer at the Webster Country Opry here in Missouri. CJ has been performing in Branson for 12 years and has been portraying Patsy Cline for the past five years. In addition to her moving tribute to Patsy Cline, CJ also lends her incredible voice to other country music classics by artists such as Dolly Parton, Reba McIntyre, and Loretta Lynn.

Joining CJ Newsom in Classic Country’s Patsy Cline and Friends is one of Branson’s best bands, the ReCliners! This one-of-a-kind band is made up of some of Branson’s greatest musicians. Featuring Josh Carroll on guitar, David Brooks on piano, Cambry Henson on bass, Craig White on drums, and Greg Moody on steel guitar, banjo, mandolin, and guitar, there’s nothing this band can’t play! The band also takes over for a couple of songs performing music by artists like Johnny Cash and Chuck Barry. Rounding out the cast is master comedian Terry Sanders. This hilarious performer has appeared on Hee-Haw and has been voted Comedian of the Year four times. Terry’s family-friendly, homespun comedy features characters such as Homer Lee, Joan Rivers, Gramma Beulah, and more. You’ll be astounded that this much talent can fit on one stage!

Classic Country’s Patsy Cline and Friends is proud to call the Americana Theater home.
